Completed----Names on Inventory of goods dated 1633
Hi,
I've obtained the will and Inventory of goods for my ancestor Charles Lowe of Rowley Regis dated 1633 but I'm really stuck on working out the two names listed on his Inventory of goods which I've attached.
Anyone got any ideas on the names ?
There is also listed Humphrey Lowe who I think is a relation.
If anyone is interest in looking at the full will and Inventory of goods please feel free to contact me via a private message.
Kind regards
Adrian

I do think that second one starts with a T

think last one is Thomas Hipkiss
the H looks like the H in that list
bit like an E

I picked up an alphabet for Family Historians from the Lincolnshire FHS
and I think the second one might be Thomas Gipkis
It makes the two small letters after the big ones in the surname of William -- both alternative versions of e which could make it Fleelaius or Heelaius or Jeelaius

Have you got bits earlier in the inventory that have similar lettering to that capital after what appears to be William in a word that would narrow it down -- or even an F elsewhere for instance that would suggest that it is not that?

Re: Names on Inventory of goods dated 1633
Based on matching the letters to similar looking ones and the concensus so far on what the other words are I would say that surname is
_holaus
the second and third letters are written the same way as the h and o in thomas below, the l and a are similar to the l's and a in william and and the funky looking letter on the end is the same shape as the s at the end of thomas. No idea what that first letter is sorry
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Many thanks for your replys and the surname Hipkys could be a possibility because this surname appears on the Halesowen/Rowley Regis parish records. The other surname I really have no idea and I've tried every combination going but without any luck.
I have the full Inventory of goods but this site will only allow me to attach a very small part of the document due to the size limit.
If you send me a private message I could email you the complete copy if you're interested in researching.
Regards
Adrian

Think William's surname could start with a J or I and then something then 'oland'
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say that Maths girl has cracked this and the name is William Ireland. I've also found on the IGI William Ireland born in Halesowen which matches perfectly.
I also want to thank Maths girl for all her hardwork in not only working out the above but also translating the whole document which given it dates from the 17th Century is a fantastic achievement.
A round of applause and I couldn't have done it without everyones help.
Regards
