DO YOU KNOW OF A CANADIAN SITE

Post by CHINAGIRL »

Hi, this is just a general query. I am hoping to find a Canadian site that would enable me to post a query regarding contacting descendants of Edmund Chaters.

Edmund immigrated to Canada in 1934, he was age 33 at the time. I have his Departure; he sailed on the Montclare for Halifax, Nova Scotia. He left from Liverpool. He was born Wardley Gateshead Durham1900, he went to join his brother in Law William Maddison in British Columbia. His wife Jane nee Fletcher joined him 3 month later, she sailed on the Letitia with their 2 children Edith age 13 and John age 2 (I think Edith was the daughter of Jane before she married Edmund) They sailed from Glasgow.

He returned briefly in 1960, I remember him vaguely coming to see my gran, she had been married to his brother Richard, and was then a widow. He left England 15 July 1960 for Halifax Canada. He had been staying in Gateshead, St Cuthberts Rd. I do not know yet of the connection, but he and most of his sibling were born in Gateshead, so I presume he was staying with family. He was also still married his occupation was a foreman.

So if anyone knows of a site that covers Canada, please let me know

Best wishes
Kathy

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
