Lucy Willetts 1873-1903

On BCC we have the 1891 census for 57 Corngreaves Road, Rowley Regis (Solomon Willetts father).

His daughter Lucy who would have been 17 years of age isn't listed. I wonder whether she could have been working as a domestic elsewhere but have been unsuccessful in finding her.

In 1903 the family was living at 27 Corngreaves Road - she may have been on the 1901 census there. I do however know that at the time of her death she was living with her parents.

If anyone could throw any light on this I would be extremely grateful.

NL I think we may be at cross purposes here.

I've got a copy of the 1891 census and as you note it's on BCC ......but ...the Lucy on the 1891 census is Lucy Garrett (mother) and it's her daughter I'm trying to trace between 1891 and 1901 leading to her subsequent tragic death in 1903.

In 1891 there's a Lucy Willetts [aged 17 & born at Rowley Regis] working as a general domestic servant in the abode of a Benjamin Westwood at 62 Cradley Road Rowley Regis.

In 1901 she's listed as Lucy Willits [aged 27 born at Cradley Heath] a chain maker living with her parents Solomon & Lucy and siblings at 57 Corngreaves Road Rowley Regis.

Thanks for your efforts on this. I have been trying to put together what info I could, to try and understand her death in 1903.

Sadly, she committed suicide in 1903 and was said to have no worries and helped her mother with her household duties. The missing entries on the census forms were the puzzle which hopefully you have now solved. At present I am typing (and deciphering) the coroner's reports.
