Ive found reference to an Allington as a first name in my tree from some old documents my mother had.
Any ideas if this is make or female?

Could be either -- possibly mother's maiden name -- or rich uncle!

Just putting the name in ancestry a few show up, many as a middle name. It looks like, well from census, they are men for forename.
Sounds nice though.
