Little Girl Lost ?
Trying to trace my Grandmother in 1881 Census. Emily Louisa NICKLESS
b.1874,B'ham. I believe her mother died in 1878....Her father William NICKLESS
(transcribed NICHOLAS on marriage) was living in lodgings in B'ham with 'ROGERS'
family...brother William b.1872(transcribed NICHOLAS) living with CASTLE (Grandparents)
in Banbury.
1891 shows Emily living as Servant with Aunt & Uncle in Coventry age 16.
Any help with the 1881 Cens: would be appreciated, have repeatly searched FMP and
Ancestry with no Luck.

Re: Little Girl Lost ?
Quite often they described a "Nurse Child" in the relation field.
Their age and place of birth can be all over the place and quite often they are given the name of the family that is fostering them.
On Ancestry, if you search for Emily and age 1875 +/- 5 and keyword "Nurse Child" you will get 59 hits.
It is just a matter of jooking at those and seeing if anything fits.

Re: Little Girl Lost ?
Try the same with "Inmate" in case she is in a workshouse.

No..Checked all aspects: Just the sort of thing you wished you'd asked
whilst she was still living. She was probably just missed out.

Can you post the 1891 census as I can't pick her up on that and we can look to see if there are any possible clues

Re: Little Girl Lost ?
Thanks for thar Mally..But..
I have her birth cert: b. 3. Oct.1874
father:William(Brassdresser)
mother: Emily known as Emma(formally Castle).
Have looked at this one before and dismissed it, have
checked FMP and Ancestry thoroughly, just thought that
someone with ;Roots' or The Genealogist' might have
a second look. Cheers Derek.

Re: Little Girl Lost ?
Will have a second look at the one above;
Emma is missing from the 1891 census. perhaps she's
living with a family member and put down as daughter?
Never found any further evidence on the 'Nickless's' as her
father was transcribed Nicholas on 1st marr: and Nickliss
on 2nd. Most confusing !!!.
