Birth Cert Enquiry

Post by cid »

Hi folks,

Can someone please clarify this for me.

In a previous post, it was said that if a woman had been married twice, then on the birth certs for any children from her second marriage there should be no mention of her previous married name. Yesterday I received the second birth cert with a previous married name of the mother. Both woman had been widowed and remarried. The certs went as follows :- Mother first name and present marrried surname, then - LATE - previous married name, then - FORMERLEY - her maiden name.

Is the the norm, or are my two certs the exceptions :?: :?:

I think it depends on what information the person registering gives them.

I too have had the name then formerly such and such and then formerly such and such
if they had married a couple of times
