Hi
I have just joined the Forum as I am picking up my Dad's previous research which he compiled many years ago and traced back to the late 1700s.
The information he collated is mostly names and years of birth, but no dates of death or locations etc which I am trying to find, preferably on the net, and other details to build up the record.
One thing that readily comes to mind is how to trace female members of the family once they marry and change their surname.

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Hi David - welcome to the forum.
Not sure about your question - if you are working backwards, then you will know the married name - it's the maiden name you need to search for.
If you're needing the maiden name, it depends on whether you are asking about all your female ancestors - or just the ones before 1837. After 1837, the birth certificates of your ancestors will give the mother's maiden name. Before 1837, you have to rely on marriage records in the parish registers.
