*Arc tbc* ---POTTER of Shipston on Stour
My ggg Grandfather was Daniel POTTER born in 1786 (according to the 1841 Census). He married Mary JOHNSON (born c1786 in Blackwell, near Shipston) in Shipston on Stour on 15 Jan 1806. The marriage confirmed from Parish Registers. It states that Daniel is from Shipston but I can find no birth record of him being BORN in Shipston - or anywhere else. While I have found out all about this children, I can find absolutely nothing on his parents or possible siblings. There are a few men could be his brothers (born in roughly the same area in a similar timeframe) but none of the records state their parent's name either. There were POTTERs in small villages such as Compton Scorpion, Tadebigge and Ilmington who may be related but there is nothing conclusive. Any suggestions?

Yes, I am. I have widened my search to adloining counties in the hope of making some progress but have found nothing conclusive. I found a Daniel POTTER who married a Mary JOHNSON in Epwell, Oxon only a few weeks before the Shipston marriage but why would a couple marry twice? in different counties? This makes no sense. Could it have something to do with Catholicism vs Protestant or Nonconformists ?

Is this still a Brick Wall?
Or have you solved it?

It is no longer a brickwall in the sense that I now know who Daniel's parents were.
