Door to door salespersons

Post by Northern Lass »

Are they getting younger?
or am I just getting older

and

are they getting ruder!

We had one the other day and Wolvie answered the door in his pyjamas
what a funny place to have a door....

no sorry...he answered the door, and he is hopeless with them

So this young lad says as soon as Wolvie answers the door ( not in his pyjamas he had a rather fetching black and gold tight lycra top
on with a wolf head on...dunno wot it represented..any way I digress ...zzzzzzzzzzz

So this lad says

"Nothing to worry about"
Wolvie stands their open mouthed

lad says..." But if you had the opportunity of cheaper electric bills you would take it wouldn't you"?

No Hi how are you, sorry to trouble you, have you a moment, etc etc

Wolvie mentioned to said young lad about a size 9 boot going somewhere and that was that!
Shame really I would have asked him in and discussed family history with him...that soon get's rid of em!

I suppose they only have a job to do but what happened to good old fashioned manners!

I had one the other day selling windows, so I pointed to the windows which are only about 3 years old and said do's it look like we need new windows, he said well I didn't know if you needed a conservatory, I said if we need a conservatory then we would call somebody, not wait for some one to rip us off.

We get them calling at our house to give us a quote for guttering

and I watch them...we are the only ones in the road they call on!!

anyone would think we needed to replace our lime green guttering with the bits peeling off it

Yes NL, we had one of them at the door the other day.

We've been pestered with those call centres - 4 on the same day. You know the ones where the phone rings, you answer "hello", no reply, "hello", no answer, "hello", then "Hi I'm Sam from whatever company can I speak to ?????" and ???? is my father in law, who has never ever lived at my house. I just slam the phone down.

They are only trying to make a living and most of them are not rip off merchants.

I would rather have them knocking at people's doors than standing in a queue for their unemployment cheque.

As for the Jehovah's and Seventh Day Adventists, I always invite them in and have a chat.

I let them know straight away thay they won't convert, but I just like to ask awkward questions like, "I am a Freemason. Your faith would not allow me to remain one. Why?"

Witnesses have an easy answer and it involves the same reasons why they do not celebrate birthdays etc.

Mormon's often have no idea so I suggest they do some research.

We had a double glazing bloke at the door some time ago, if he'd have taken a moment he would have realised we had had replacements fitted.

He then went to my neighbour (an elderly widow), spun her the tale and she agreed he could go back on the Saturday morning. BIG MISTAKE......... after three (3) hours she felt so battered that she signed up. The starting price he quoted was £24,000 and eventually discounted until he got to £10,000 (she thought this sounded about the right price). We are not talking mansions here - a four bed detached.

We found several horror stories about this Company on the 'Net and were concerned for her, especially as they as they didn't employ their own installers.
My husband suggested she should get other quotes and had got seven days to cancel the contract. She wouldn't entertain the idea, even when we told her how much ours cost - about £3,000 less, done by a local firm.

The two installers were elderly gentlemen who took their time and produced a good job - although it's the only house in the road without georgian windows!!
