*Archive?* Extracting Records
I have noticed on some of the replies to my posts that peeps have been extracting records, now is this the GED file format? I downloaded a record for William Toy and Eliza Parkes marriage, hoping to see if there was any witnesses (I know it's already been established on BCC, but I wanted to see if I could find it for my own practice), I have a viewer for the GED format, but the only data is the married couple, location and date.

Re: Extracting Records
Not sure what you mean Nick
if you mean you are going on the bmsgh site and getting a marriage that is all there is
the rest has to be looked up in the PR

Right, so when I hear people saying they are extracting records, does that just mean looking them up?

Yes
Extracted means taken from the PR's Parish registers/records
submitted is someones research, or just an entry someone has done via census info
so best to check those
in fact you should really verify any research given yourself anyway
as I look at lots of records and there are the odd mistakes in the IGI records
but extracted means from the PR's yes.

Re: Extracting Records
Right, well I'm probably not going to do anything this evening as I need to work on my studio web site.
But I think I am going to verify all the facts I have from my direct family line, more than likely do that tomorrow evening.
