BMD in Oz?

Post by Vikinghunter »

I've never asked this before. My deceased mother had a brother who emigrated to Melbourne and worked on the trams there. I know he's now deceased but understand (from another post here) that the Aussies put the children's names on their death certs. Just thought this might be a way to contact my possibly living cousins out there? (6 of them!)

Anybody know the address of their GRO for ordering the certs?

Thanks

If he died before 1985 I can give you the index numbers, otherwise it will cost you 99 cents to find it.

Give me his full name and the name of his parents.

You can also download the certificate right away, no need to wait for the postman.

Hi Mark

Thanks for your kind offer

I think he died after 1985...something like 15 years ago?

On that basis, are you still able to help? Do you still need his name (he would be my uncle)?

Actually I was in Melbourne myself in 2005 for the Deaflympics (then travelled the entire country for a wonderful 3 months holiday!)

Pity I was'nt seriously into genealogy then as I am now.

By the way, how do I send you 99 cents?!!

Cheers
