A second treaty of peace initiated by England was Wolsey's overarching aim for the next three years but to escape from this cul de sac was to move ever deeper into his alliance with the French.
This woman with her strange attire and language could she indeed help the situation? Only time.....

....the next day I went to the market to buy the usual necessities, and there was a huge crowd gathered for what I did not know.
I edged closer and could hear a woman's voice loud and clear over the attentive throng. Who was this? what was she about?
As I moved nearer I could hear that she wer from round ere!...who was she?....

who was she?... 'twere me, BC Wench selling me necessities from me 'oss and cart in Dudley Market plairce.

who was she?... 'twere me, BC Wench selling me necessities from me 'oss and cart in Dudley Market plairce but it was in fact she who led her people in battle against the French. Under her leadership, after her husband was murdered, she expanded her people's territory. Her name is often associated with ruthless arrogance -- and that reputation was perhaps the inspiration for a certain novel by a Bard from Stratford now being performed at The Globe in London.
