COMPLETED .....Swan Kelage?

Post by KayM »

An ancestor is noted as being born in Swan Kelage in Staffs. No joy on google!

Any of you locals got any idea what or where this might be?

Is it from the 1901 census?
If it is looking at the image it looks like Swan Village.???

May be this from Wikipedia
Swan Village is a village, now part of West Bromwich, England.

It is now divided by the Black Country New Road and was the site of the Swan Village Gas Works. Nearby was the junction of the Ridgacre Branch with the Wednesbury Old Canal, both now disused.

and also this,

Yes you are both right.
On the 1901 census it is Swan Village. (Sounds lovely!) In earlier censuses it gives West Bromwich as his place of birth!
Thanks
