*ARC TBC* -- Can’t find a marriage for Birch / Lockey

I am trying to find a marriage for William Ernest Birch and Mary Hannah Lockey (known as Hannah) possibly in the 1920's in Newcastle UK. “Will” was born in Leeds in 1878 / 1879 and married Letitia Snookes in Leeds in 1900. They had 2 boys Lawrence in 1901 and Edward in 1905. The next reference I can find to 'Will' is on the birth certificate of another son, William Edward Birch in Oct 1927 - to Hannah, although she is listed as “Mary Hannah Birch formerly Lockie”. They had another son - George - in 1930.

Both these sons assumed their parents were married but have no idea where they married. There are no other living relatives I can ask.

I would also like to track down any living relatives of the 2 step brothers who are possibly still living in Newcastle. The two younger brothers were never told about the older two and didn't know that their father had had another family.

I can find marriages's for all Hannah's siblings - Mabel, Isabella, Jane, Caroline, Margaret and Edward - in Newcastle. They were all born in Auckland.

Letitia died in Newcastle in 1961 and Hannah in the 1980's and both were listed as the widow of William Ernest Birch.

Thanks for that. Yes, I had seen the 1901 and 1911 census.

The 1911 census was tramscribed incorrectly. Anthony Liddell, was Jane's brother that was staying with them at the time, and the children following on the list did have the surname Lockey.

The 1911 census original states the number of children born alive and the number still living and the number dead. Unless they fill the form in wrongly they don't give the names of those not still living at home.

To identify them you could try:
If they were a baptising family they might have been baptised at the same place as the rest of the family
Going through all possible births -- perhaps starting by narrowing down potential years by looking for possible gaps in births. -- to confirm you would have to send for any possible certificates ( a costly business if there are lots of possibilities)

Is Isabella (1895) a possible if she died and then next child was named after her --this was a reasonably common practice.
