Hi,
I've just about given up on finding some ancestors in the 1891 census and I've tried Ancestry and Findmypast but with no luck.
I'm wondering if there is a section of that census that's missing. Here are the people I'm trying to trace and most of them I've found in both the 1881 and 1901 censuses.
Thomas MASON (single) b. West Ham 1862 Found in 1881 and 1901 Census
Annie HARDINGHAM (single) b. London 1866 Found in 1881 and 1901 Census
Mary Ann MASON (sister of TM) b. Chingford 1860 Found in 1881 and 1901 Census
Harry MASON (brother of TM) b. Loughton 1868 Found in 1881 Census
Alfred MASON (brother of TM) b. Loughton 1871 Found in 1881 and 1901 Census
John Arthur MASON (cousin of TM) b. Woodford 1864 Found in 1881 and 1901 Census
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Ken Mason

Can you post the 1881 and 1901 census for these so that we can try to work round the right families?

Re: Missing in the 1891 Census
Hi again,
Yes, the 1871 and 1891 are correct. I don't think the 1891 is correct unless they mistranscribed his age and surname.
Regards,
Ken

Re: Missing in the 1891 Census
Hi Maths girl,
I've been to my local library where they have Ancestry online and I found the image of the 1891census that you found for me.
Thanks, you were correct - I believe it's the right one. Very hard to read the writing but given that the family were involved with the East India company and that Plaistow is part of the West Ham Borough ( where previous census' have him born) I'm pretty sure it's him.
Thanks again,
Ken
