Lost Cousins FREE until 12th April

Post by amy »

For those of you who dont know what it is, www.lostcousins.com is a (mostly) free site where you can input all of your family members from the 1881 census. If ANYONE else inputs the same person you get notified. If you a PAYING member you can then initiate contact with this person, who needs to agree to respond and then you can send messages to each other through the site. When you are ready you can choose to exchange email addresses to keep the contact going.

I have been using it for a while and had some matches come up. Every 6 months or so they do a period where you can contact your 'matches' for free without subscribing. One of those periods are on now until the 12th of April. If you register (free) you also get a montly newsletter which is the ONLY newsletter I get that I actually read. Its great. The only distant family member that I am in contact with that isnt through here is through a lostcousins match.

So if you have never heard of it I recommend giving it a go, and if you have but never wanted to pay for subscription then now is the time to initiate contact with any of those matches.

Note: Dont just put your direct ancestors, put in EVERYONE you are related to from the 1881 census and you are BOUND to have some matches.

Good luck,

Amy from Oz
