This guy has come up in previous discussion [mainly in regard to his connection to the Lowe family] and he's on BCC.

The problem I have is that I believe a number of the children attributed to him & his wife Sarah actually belong to his second wife Eliza Woodward [nee Cox].

Here's my case:

In 1891 Richmond, a widower, is living at 74 Oldbury Road Rowley Regis along with the following children: Benjamin [born abt. 1871]; Hezekiah [born abt. 1875]; William [born abt. 1877]; Thomas [born abt. 1878]; Selina [born abt. 1883]; James [born abt. 1885]; & Elizabeth [born abt. 1888].

In 1901 he's married to an Eliza [born abt. 1845] and living at Sivters Lane Rowley Regis along with the following children: Dudley [born abt. 1866]; James [born abt. 1885]; Edward [born abt. 1887]; Aaron [born abt. 1882]; Jabez [born abt. 1884]; Selina [born abt. 1883]; & Elizabeth [born abt. 1886]. Also living with them is a stepson, Joseph Cox [born abt. 1864].

There's a marriage for a Richmond Plant & Eliza Woodward - 1891 Stourbridge Volume 6c page 185.

In 1891 there's an Eliza Woodward [born abt. 1841] who is a widow living at 62 Oldbury Road Rowley Regis along with the following children: Joseph [born abt. 1869]; Sarah A [born abt. 1877]; Richard [born abt. 1880]; Aaron [born abt. 1882]; Jabez [born abt. 1884]; & Edward [born abt. 1887].


It would appear to me that that Aaron, Jabez and Edward are not the children of Richmond.

I'll add what I can to BCC in the morning in regard to Eliza et al - I've gleaned details about her previous marriage & 3 kids she had out of wedlock. Her maiden name was Cox and she married a Richard Woodward [1843-1887] in 1874 at Blackheath

I have just added Unknown Unknown for the father of her first 3 kids

it would be interesting to know if a father is on the birth certif for them
