Manners

Post by Northern Lass »

didnt know really what to tag this but it amused me tonite.

Went to a local pub that did food
and they had a roaring fire and I mean roaring.
So we sat the furthest away from the heat even so Wolvie and I
and our matching jumpers had to come off sooooooooooo hot.

So gradually the tables around started filling up and not one person
said to anyone it was too hot, although they were passing out!
There was this blower thing in the fire to put air in it.
So I grabbed a passing waitress and asked them to sort it which they did by unplugging the device.

But what I found interesting was the way that there was a table for 6 near us and people kept looking at it
and the comments were...oh we can't sit there as there are only 2 of us or 4 of us
so let's sit on top of the fire and die of heat exhaustion

Why do we do that?
Why do we see a big table and if we prefer it and no reason why we can't sit there why don't we just sit there.
3 parties all debated the issue
and then moved somewhere else.
Very interesting people watching

:-)

Don't you think it is interesting how people react and interact in public
all our social niceties and manners.

Hope you both had something on under you matching jumpers!

Id love to sit by a roaring open fire. :-) Dont like being cold

I do like to "people watch" mind. I didnt know other people say that!

Im not likely to complain about something like that though. Just move my legs or cheeks to save on marks from the heat on my skin. Cant think what its called now!

I have been more "assertive" as I have got older, but I tend to shut up and put with!
Moan on the quiet, but I dont suppose thats the way it should be. :?

The other thing I notice in pubs or restaurants is how married couples
of a certain age just don't talk to each other,
they eat their meal without talking to each other
I suppose the convo has all been said after years together.
I remember one couple sat there reading the paper!
Sad really
Wolvie was enraptured with my tales of family history
I got a bit worried by the dull thud I heard from time to time
as his head hit the table

I think there was a lot of hot air but it wasn't coming from the fire!

Are you sure their comments about "We can't sit close to that!" were refering to the fire?

There is no way us Aussie Dodd's are quiet when at a restaurant.

I was banned from one Chinese restaurant recently for flicking peas at some loud mouthed Yanks at another table. They didn't notice till one landed in their wine :)

As for "All you can eat.." smorgasboards. They will never make a profit out of my family. I am sure it is disturbing to watch the plates pile up on our table :)
