*Archived tbc* -advice please

Post by debbie_7155 »

Hi, i would like to try & do some family history, but my father was adopted & sadly died 11 years ago at an early age of 52, i did approach my grandma (my dads real mum) to ask who his dad really was but all i got from her was, grandad was your fathers dad & she refused to let me know any more..so i cant push it with her as she is in her 80's
Is there any other way i can try & find out more without having to ask my family ?
much appreciated
Debbie.

I am wondering when Alice married Kemp?
And when the birth was registered and then you can find his birth certif as Di has flagged.

he might be registered in your grans name of parish? if before the marriage.

Ok well you need that birth certif.
So I would find out when Alice parish and Robert kemp married.
If your father was born Nov he is likely to have had his birth registered in Dec qtr 1945 I have just had a look at Parish and Kemp and couldnt see anything which is odd. Maybe someone could check the complete indexes too?

Do you know Debbie where he was born? which town?

I dont suppose you have Richard Johns marriage certif just in case a father has been put on there other than Robert kemp?

I know that a5 baggie on here sent for a birth certif and it had a link to the adoption information in 1928.

So that birth certif is a starting point.
Dont suppose you have another name for your gran she wouldnt have been registered with her mothers name would she?

You see after 1911 the mothers maiden name is on the birth certificate.
So if we have the dob ie 14 nov 1945 and the area and the mothers maiden name we should be able to get you a ref no

Ive just called my mum & all ahe can tell me is :

Dad was born in 1944, i thought it was 45...def 14th november
richard john ?..dont know what name is on the birth certificate, i dont even know who has it..my dad re-marred..i could ask my step mum, pending if she will tell me anything

He was born in Lincoln..

grandfather... robert lewis kemp..thats all i know ?

i could ask my auntie what year grandma & grandad was married, i wouldnt be able to get hold of any birth certificates..

I know a little bit of where the KEMP family came from...linclnshire/horncastle/louth borough on baine area too, i have seen very old headstones in the grave yards...but i always felt i couldt connect because its not my dads blood..does that make sense?
i know you dont have to have the biological blood to be a father & we had a wonderful grandad..but i need to do this for me
