Please help me im so confused

Hi all thanks for looking at my post I am having a really difficult time tracing my family tree, mostly because no one talks to each other so noone knows anything but after a lot of effort I have found my great great grandfather a William Bottwood Phillips who was a labourer. I got this information from his sons marriage certificate, he was named Thomas Phillips married a Laura annie lee in Chester He was 20 when he married on the 28th Jan 1925.

Can anyone help me find information about William Ive hit a brick wall

All I can find is a potential birth for Thomas: Q2 (AMJ) 1904, Chester, 8a 399.

Get his birth certificate to determine his mother's name and maiden surname, then find his parents marriage to determine their age, then find them in the censuses.

-given those we might be able to chase back on the censuses

Sorry Alec forgot about that. On their marriage certificate they were already both living together in No 12 Belgrave street in Chester

Both there so may have been a convenient boarding house for the marriage but with luck coud be a relative. Is there any other scrap of information -biirthdates/places, occupations - anything no matter how unimportant it may seem

Hi alec i will tell u all that it says on marriage certificate. They married on 28th Jan 1925, Thomas was 20 and a colliers electrician, his father william was a labourer.
Laura ann lee was 21 when married and her father thomas lee was a toolman. . They were married in the parish of St John the Baptist in Chester


Their witnesses were Thomas Lee, Elizabeth Phillips, William Jones and Elizabeth ? (I cant read it properly - it looks like Astley but not sure)

No luck in 1901 Fergal

Turned a lot of image pages to find it Guess we'll have to wait for the birth certificate -I have some other 'maybes' regarding witnesses and will hold on to those until we know what's on the birth certificate especially birth address

Hi Alec i received the birth certificates today and hope you can help me further. It says Thomas Phillips was born to William Bottwood Phillips and Elizabeth Phillips (formerly Hughes) Thomas was born on the 28/0.3/1904 On Pulford Road in Chester.

Very confused with Laura Annie Lee though because on the marriage certificate it says her father iis Thomas Lee but on the birth it says Arthur Lee who had married Agnes Lee (formerly Dodd). Laura was born 10/12/1901 in Great Boughton Road

Perhaps Laura Annie Lee's father's full name was Arthur Thomas or Thomas Arthur and he's known by both to different people as was my father
