Hello All,
I am tracing the family of Francis Graham and Mary Bell who married in the 1820s' and lived in the Hoddam area.
On the internet I have been able to find (conversations) on the 1860 Scotland census with Francis being born @1780.
It seems I forgot to mark down who Mary Bells' parents are, when she was born and where.
Their children that I have been able to find are
Christian (female))spelling?) cJan 9th, 1825
Jane c July 16th, 1826
John c June 19th, 1829
Mary c July 25th, 1831
Francis c Aug 17th, 1834*
It seems that This Francis born 1780- his parents are Francis born@ 1759 and Janet Taylor b @1763 both in Canonbie.
I have not ordered any film yet but was wondering if anyone can confirm this and of course who Francis and Janet Taylors parents are and their marriage date.
Thanks
Razzy

It looks like some are recorded by a submitted entry on the IGI.
Have you tried Scotlands People?
Just doing a search for births of Graham, father Francis and Mother Mary in that area comes up with 5 children. I didnt see a marriage though.
Is this the family?

Re: Lockerbie, Hoddam, Canonbie Dumfries Parish records
Yes, I recognize some of the names. My ancestor is William.
I have yet to find where Mary nee Bell was born or baptized so the information there in 1851 is helpful. I can assume that Francis the husband of Mary is dead, I believe he was born about 1780.
Williams' daughter I was able to find in the 1871 register that I ordered from FHL.
I hope to find more children soon in another microfilm.
I also found that Francis' parents were Francis Graham and Janet Taylor born 1759 and 1763 respectively.
I hope to continue finding more!

Re: Lockerbie, Hoddam, Canonbie Dumfries Parish records
So, I have been able to trace back to 1758 where William GRAHAM of Knottyholme (Nittyholme, Knittyholme)
and Agnes ARMSTRONG. I do not know where to look for their marriage to see who their parents are. The children were baptized in Canonbie FHL #1067956. Their children were said to be of Thornethwaite or Knottyholme.
Francis Bap. Dec 30th, 1758
Thomas
Helen
Mary
Catherine
Agnes
William born Nov 21st, 1770; bap Nov 24th, 1770.
Correct me, but the childrens names usually go: fathers father
(so Williams' father could be Francis)
mothers father (so Agnes' father could be Thomas)
Fathers' mother (so I could be looking for Williams' parents named Francis and Helen Graham?)
Mothers' mother (so I could be looking for Agnes' parents being Thomas and Mary Armstrong)
Now this is in a perfect world where everything is according to Hoyle....
This does not seem to hold true in the Canonbie parish,
so I am thinking William (at least) did not come from Canonbie parish.
I just came across this more correct info on the brick walls folder:
1st son named after father's father, 2nd son after mother's father, 1st daughter after mother's mother, 2nd daughter after father's mother.
In this case, I stand corrected- I could be looking for a Francis and Mary GRAHAM and Thomas and Helen ARMSTRONG (in a perfect world...) still does not seem that William came from Canonbie following this idea. I did not think to copy down the Armstrongs as I was going through the microfilm of Canonbie.
Any perspectives?
