The Sunshine Coast is about 2000 Km from me, but I'm up there pretty often. My mum lives a bit further North than that, so we pass through (and stay on the way at Noosa 'cos it's my favourite place) almost every year.

It's likely to be VERY hot and steamy in January. Tell your son he HAS to have air-conditioning. Some Queenslanders crack hearty and pretend that they don't need it, but it is not so!!!

Thanks for that Di, it does sound not for the feint hearted, I now know to visit in the Winter, don't think I could take that much heat :!: Were not used to anything much above 20 C here and that's on a good day :lol:

January in the Sunshine Coast. What a brilliant place to be! The Mexican Invasion is over (thats what the Queenslanders all the tourist season when their southern cousins cross the border for a holiday....) but the weather is still brilliant (if you don't mind the mid 30's and reasonable humidity. Certainly any further north the humidity gets too much).

You have to do the touristy things like the major theme parks but there is also some wonderfull rainforest bushwalks around there as well as the brilliant beaches.

You will have a ball!
