Hi Di,

Could you please find room in you bag for Shaw's History of Staffordshire. :-)

You've got so much info from it in the Woodhouse line, but I can't find it anywhere.

Bet you're looking forward to the cold weather and warm beer.

That could well be it Mallosa, I'm not sure. I did try Cradley Heath library but they had not heard of it. If the book has been loaned to the historical society by Brierley Hill library, should I be able to view it at Brierley Hill? Bit confused???

Looks like I can buy it on CD, or view on line if I pay to view?? from Historical Soc.

I'm so looking forward to meeting you all.
Looks like I'll be arriving in the UK about 18/19 May. I'll let you know for sure as soon as it is confirmed. Can't wait

I'm going to China for 2 weeks first. I'm only home for 3 weeks and then I'm on my way over. Then home for a couple of weeks and off North to avoid the rest of Winter! What a life!

Is that where it's from? I got most of my Woodhouse info from a website that quoted the Norroy King of Arms research ("Compiled by H. Farnham Burke, C.V.O., C.B. Norroy King of Arms. Privately Printed, 1914"), but that site seems to have disappeared since. I have a copy of the document somewhere if it's useful to you. (No doubt it's lighter than Shaw's History of Staffordshire" )
I don't care what the weather's like! I'll be well-equipped with my fleecy unmentionables, Drizabone and wellies.

San,
We'll be in the UK for about 6 weeks, but most of that time up in Scotland. We're planning to head for the Midlands pretty much straight away as soon as we hit the "green and pleasant land", and spend 3 or 4 days in the area.

Sure will as soon as I know myself. I do know we arrive on the continent on May 3rd and hope to have a 15 day Eurail Pass from the 4th. When we actually arrive in England will depend on whether we can use that pass for part of the journey across to the UK and hence whether we travel by train or overnight ferry.

At the moment, I'm all for an overnight cruise, in which case we would land in Newcastle and come across form there.

Would it be best for me to aim at the next Saturday for a meet up, rather than a week night, to make it easier for folks to get there?

Nope, looking at the map, the ferry from Hoek Van Holland to Harwich would be better (and cheaper  )
