Ancestry.co.uk problems?

Post by Vikinghunter »

It's now absolutely impossible save any images onto my computer from Ancestry now. It never was a problem before. Their instructions on how to remedy this is worse than getting lost in Hampton Court's maze.......

Anybody body else here having the same problem with them? I'm seriously considering not renewing my membership with them.

Progress? Huh!

Jimmy:

That used to be the case but Microsoft have done something which conflicts with Ancestry's Enhanced Image Viewer.

Northern Lass:

They're aware of it and do advise you on their website how to get round to it but it's lengthy and complicated which they've readily admitted to. In fact they advise you to print out the instructions! I'll try it on my other computer and see if it's any better there but what a palaver....

This is what I do...

Go into the actual image - at the top on the right hand side, you will see 'SAVE'- Save this record about Fred Jones to your family tree, your shoebox, or your computer.
Click on 'save this image to my computer' and then select where you want it saved to.

I've just done it with no problem
If you would like to have your ancestors photo's included in our Gallery, please send me a pm.

Researching: Evans, Rollason, Henley/Hendley, Brookes, Taylor (Wilson - Birmingham)

Mallossa's totally correct but that's on Windows XP I assume? (cos I've just tried it on my other computer which is XP and it works perfectly)

Northern Lass's right too - it won't work with Vista which is what my main computer's on......

Just reaching out for the paracetamols now.......
