*ARC TBC* - Clarence Henry Stephens & Gladys Henfrey

Post by jlbriggs »

I cant believe Ive got nowhere so soon with my maternal side. My Grandfather Clarence Henry Stephens b1912. His marraiage Apr 1937 stats his father as Clarence Henry Stephens Deceased. Thats as much as I can find. Also his mother was Gladys Henfrey and I cant find a marr for Henfrey & Stephens (not sure they were) or birth for both parties. Ive sent away for Clarence my grandfathers Birth Cert to see if Clarence was really his name on there as I cant think of any thing else. Ive looked through War records and found only 1 Clarence H Stephens he was married with children on his records (no names) and his resindent address was in Liverpool so cant be him.
Any suggestions of what I can do next, Surely I cant come to a dead end so early on.... :(

That Clarence Henry Stephens in the WWI pension index is married to an Alice - so he is probably the Clarence Henry Stephens that married Alice Dillworth in 1915 in West Derby. I would think that there is a good chance that he is your Clarence's father and either his first wife died and he remarried or - he wasn't married to start with . The marriage certificate would say if he was a batchelor or a widower. There are so few Clarence Stephens in that area let alone Clarence Henrys that the chances are pretty good they are the same person. He was born 1892 so would have been old enough to be your Clarnces father
