Do you recycle?

Post by Northern Lass »

and I don't mean riding backwards!

although I have this pal who does actually ride like that esp after a few bevvies!!

I try and do my bit but it is sooooooooooo embarrasing clinking all them wine bottles out there
and we do the plastic and cardboard too!

I think the council should do more to support the public with supplying aluminium boxes too!
you know for coke cans etc.

What do you recycle and do you think it works?

 We have been recycling for years far longer than people in England!!
Dual bins inside the house and outside as well for your green and ordinary rubbish!
Bottle containers - with different compartments for different colour glass.
Containers for your newspapers and cardboard.
Containers for your old clothes.
Containers for your used batteries.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Years and years we've done it!!
Mind you when i was a kid my grandmother used to save all the silver paper for the blind!! What was that about? :?
I like to ride my bicycle without a saddle when i've had a few bevvies!!

Wow! Rob you really are a switched on person!
sit back in your chair and let me plug you in!

I can't understand why there is not a uniformal recycling programme
we should all have the same boxes and be able to get rid of all our rubbish that we use in
a proactive way!

for a true englishmen there no land more greener and pleasent than england, Duchy

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold;
Bring me my arrows of desire;
Bring me my spear; O clouds, unfold!

Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

and for those who dont know it

Yes we recycle , we have two green bins 1 black bin and a box for glass bottles and jars , hubby finds the bos handy for collecting weeds and tree cuttings , garden rubbish is put in bags then you request a collection.

Our black bin should have been emptied Thursday but they still have not been .

Just watching that Kevin Mcloud documentary on Dharavi: Mumbai's "Shadow City "
it is unbelievable
the people there recycle to live
they visit the rubbish tips and sort out all the recycable waste from the huge festering stinking waste!
They get maybe a pound a day!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUjwNeo- ... xg&index=2

interesting documentary

no idea maybe you need to write to them!

anyway you wouldn't like it cos it has rats in it and scenes of rubbish tips and filth!

Just finished watching it on TV and I think that although these people live a really poor existence they
have a marvellous sense of community, family and to just allow the developers in to bulldoze the place, and then put these
people in high rise flats, I agree with Kevin Mcloud it would be just as we did in the 1960's.
Better to work with the people and give them clean living environment but keep that sense of community.
You can give clean water, drainage, sewers, decent buildings but don't take away everything important to them and their neighbours.
