Moses Cutler and Susannah Bloomer

Post by maryann »

Susannah Bloomer (on BCC) born abt. 1770 married a Moses Cutler 8 Feb. 1790 at Clent. I can't find any information on them after that, not on 1841 census. I know Susannah is still living in 1841 because she is listed in her brother William's will dated June 1842. In this will she is listed as Susannah Firkins. I can't find a death record for Moses or a marriage record to a Firkins, and she's not on the 1841 census under Firkins. I need help on this, any suggestions.
Thanks
Mary Ann

On BCC William Bloomer
is this the will you were talking about?

There is apparently a Will dated June 1842. In this will he mentions one brother, Joseph Bloomer and five sisters, Mary Price, Elizabeth Stanton, Susanna Firkins, Ann Southwick and Ester Gill . He also mentions a niece, Sarah Parkes, Ester Tandy.
The will indicated "Testator died December 42, Date of Probate 16 February 1843. We don`t think William Bloomer married as he left "two dwelling houses, nailshops, gardens and appurtenances" and numerous personal belongs to his siblings. He also requested each sibling to pay 1 (gGeat Britain money) total of 6 to his niece Sarah Parkes. He willed Ester Tandy (abt age 7) a nailors anvil ?

Yes, that is the one . We only posted part of his will, because it listed about every thing he owned, beds, dishes, cup boards etc.

There is a will from a Thomas Firkins from Ripple in Worcestershire that has an addtion to it dated 12th March 1842 in which he leaves some money to a Sarah? (Hard to read as it was written over a bit), wife of his ? (I have no idea what the word is....could be brother) George Firkins.

Happy to send you a copy if you Private Message me with your e-mail address.

Mark
Thank you so much. This has got to be the right Moses Cutler as the age fits and I couldn't find any other Moses Cutlers close to this age. The death in 1831 explains why I couldn't find them on the 1841 census. I would love to have a copy of the Firkins will, I'll PM you my e-mail. Thank you again.

I think this is Thomas in Cradley 1851 Mary Ann:-

New Road Cradley
Thomas Firkin HD M 31 Waggoner born Frogmorton Worcs (I think this should be Throckmorton, which is near Ripple.)
Sarah Wife 33 Northfield Worcs
Mary Ann DA 9 Northfield Worcs
Thomas Son 4 Northfield.

HTH from Linell.

Thanks Linell, this might help find the right Firkins that Susannah married sometime before 1842. Can't understand why I cannot find her on any census.

Hi Mary Ann, she may have died or re-married?? There are a couple of Marriages for a Hannah Firkin between 1841 and 1851, some Susannah's were known as Hannah. The death was Upton On Seven for a Susannah Firkin, 1841, I think, need to check again, Upton On Severn is the Registration District, so would cover the Ripple area, there is definitely some connection with that part of Worcs.
