Hello,
I am trying to find the maiden name of John Younghusband's wife Margaret. He was born in 1800 in Newcastle. She was born in 1801 Workington.
They had a daughter Elizabeth in 1841. I found a record for a marriage John Younghusband in Newcastle for 1849 but I doubt they had children out of wedlock. There is a Margaret Jackson on the same page, but two other couples. What do you think?
On the Census records she appears as Margaret.
Many thanks

Re: Maiden name/marriage help please
No other John Yunghusband marriages match.
It could have been his second marriage which would explain the children out of wedlock.
Plenty of Margaret Jackson born 1801 Cunbria/Cumberland in the 1841 census.

Have you identified the other 4 people as "couples"? If you can eliminate them as partners you could be more certain of the John and Margaret partnership

Do you have 1841 census?
There is this, it could be a possible?
Arms Street, All Saints, Newcastle
John Younghusband 42, Lab
Elizabeth, 42,
John, 15,
William, 10,
Elizabeth, 5 months
/Sarah Nicholes, 83

Re: Maiden name/marriage help please
Theres a birth showing for Elizabeth Younghusband in 1841 Jan-Mar quarter, Newcastle upon Tyne.
If that is your Elizabeth it would be about the right age to fit in with the census as 1841 was done in June.
Her birth certificate would help you confirm.
As Mark said may be Margaret is second marriage. There is a death for an Elizabeth Younghusband in Oct- Dec 1847, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Re: Maiden name/marriage help please
Thank you for all your quick replies.
I had considered eliminating the other couples, but wasn't sure how much wouldbe involved to do so.
I didn't realise you could get a birth certificate for a date in the 1800's. How far back can you get a birth certificate from?
If Elizabeth's certificate has her mother's maiden name as Jackson then I guess it would definately be the right one?
Thanks again for all your help, you've all given me a lot to be getting on with.

Re: Maiden name/marriage help please
1837 is from when you can certificates from.
If the 1841 census is right then I think its possible the Elizabeth is Elizabeths mother. Margaret is a second marriage.
IGI extracted christening,
Elizabeth Young husband 10th Jan 1841 All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland. Father John Young Husband and Elizabeth
Extracted Marriage,
John Younghusband and Elizabeth Friser, 7th Nov 1825 All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland
