Hi
I'm trying to confirm the surname of Elizabeth , the wife of Isaac Tunnicliff [1784-1859]. A number of family trees on Ancestry have it as Coates but there's no marriage details.
What I can glean from census records is that she was born about 1793 in Hanbury Staffordshire.
She's living with Isaac in 1841 at Birmingham Row Barton Under Needwood Staffordshire; [Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 976; Book: 20; Civil Parish: Tatenhill; County: Staffordshire; Enumeration District: 10; Folio: 9; Page: 11; Line: 15; GSU roll: 474613.].
In 1851 she, & Isaac, are at Crowberry Lane Barton Under Needwood Staffordshire; [Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 2012; Folio: 360; Page: 18; GSU roll: 87415.].
Then in 1861 she's a widow living at Wales End Barton Under Needwood Staffordshire; [Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 1964; Folio: 13; Page: 20; GSU roll: 542895.]
I believe she died in 1862 at Barton Under Needwood.
Can anyone help
Doug

Re: Isaac Tunnicliffe
Hi Doug I would try and get a copy of the Hanbury Parish Records, see if there were any Coates there circa 1790 - 1800. I can pop into Stafford Archives after Xmas and have a look for you if that is any help. Linell.

Re: Isaac Tunnicliffe
They were Primative Methodists so you have to look under the Non-Conformist registers. (The only site that have them online is TheGenelogist).

Looked at the original register entry and it is spelt Tunny...not Tunney.
Your problem with Non Conformists is that some of them moved around a bit as they "spread the word".
They also tend to use the same biblical names over and over and over.....
The three baptisms before Moses in the register are Noah, Calib and Jabez!!
