Hello My friend has the whole British Census for England and Wales 1841 to 1901 on his PC and cannot find Benjamin son of Thomas and Phoebe for 1881 and 91 could The Benjamin in the Institution the age is close. Have to find a newspaper archive to search. Does anyone know the area that institution covers.
Yes he is in Cambusnethan with Jane as his Housekeeper and the father of Janes children living with her in 1901 I have Phoebe's birth certificate, which states that Thomas Clive is not the father and that she has not lived with him for several years. Thomas Clive is on the 1901 census for Dalziel , Lanarkshire. I think Jane Clive is also a Willetts . I have often wondered if he followed Jane back from West Bromwich.
Hi Bob, well it does look as though Benjamin from West Brom son of Thomas and Phoebe is the right one. Just need to prove it. Are any of his children with Jane called Thomas or Phoebe? Can you track down a Will or an Obiturary for Benjamin? Linell.
The other children after Sarah were Elizabeth 1906 and Polly unknown date of Birth . Phoebe onward are all Willetts for sure. On Phoebe's Birth certificate it states that Thomas Clive is not the father and she has not resided with him for Three years . Benjamin signed the rest of the birth certificate's as the father , William used the name William Willetts Clive when he entered the Australian Army
As I said Bob, it looks good but you need some concrete proof. If I was you I would phone or email the Record Office up there in Lanarkshire, or join a Scottish Forum, someone up there maybe able to search for Wills or an Obituary, don't think we can do anymore this end. Linell.

Here is the burial record from Cambusnethan cemetery for this man. BENJAMIN WILLETS. Ironworker, Wishaw, aged 54 years, marital status - single. Parents - Benjamin Willets and Phoebe Mason. Interred in common ground, 15th January 1909.
If he was, as stated in the records, buried as a pauper, I doubt very much if there was a newspaper obit: I have given this information out already - it rings a bell! There may well be some info in the Poor Relief records, held at the City Archives within the Mitchell Library, Glasgow.
Hello I am going to try to get the bro in Law to go to the Mitchell Library to see what they have , Perhaps they have the records for where he worked. Also contact the man who sent this to me to see if he remembers who else he sent the information to bob
