*UPDATE look up for PD done!* ---Bangham and Garbett

Post by Irene »

Hi Everyone,

I live in Canada so I am a little limited with Parish Records research. I need help with the following.

Thomas Bangham born 1802, married Mary Garbett in 1836 at St. Thomas, Dudley

Problem I have is I don't know which Mary Garbett this is. As you know there were a few born in the area. I think she was born around 1814 to 1816 but it would help if I could find out who her parents were. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

So ... Mary seems to say pretty consistently in the census that she was born in Kingswinford. and the 1871 says that her year of birth is 1812.

This is the only matching baptism for Mary on the IGI:-

Mary Garbett 1.8.1813 Old Swinford St Mary; Parents William and Mary.

Thanks for all the help.

This may be a silly question. How do I get a cert of this marriage between Thomas Bangham and Mary Garbett :?:

All the the certificates that I have ordered before have been after 1837.

Have a great day. It is almost midnight here (Vancouver) and still raining.

That's right Irene, no marriage certificates before July 1837, but if you request a look up on here, someone will look the marriage up for you in the Parish Register, it won't give you any parents names but the witnesses may be a brother or sister, hopefully.

As Linell says the Parish Register entry can be looked up but only when someone is going and has time etc.
So might be a while and they are doing a stock take until 14 dec at Sandwell archives and 8 dec at Dudley archives
so depending where marriage is
St Thomas Dudley is at Dudley archives
It will only be the detail it won't be the photocopy of the entry.
You would have to request that yourself from the archives at Dudley
Not sure of the costs on that but you could email them and ask them.
They are very helpful

Was keeping them secret, Pete, but someone seems to have let the cat out of the bag.

Actually, I was rushing off out and only had time for some quick feedback for Irene. Sorry.

Don't think that is them Di, they Married 1836, the older children were born Stourbridge, so they must have been in the Old Swinford/Kingswinford area. Linell.
