*Arc tbc* --Hanson family

Post by apowell »

Hi everyone,

I received help from you previous on my X3 Grt Grandmother Leah Hanson born abt 1813-1816 Rowley Regis who married James Lowe 25 Dec 1833, St Martins Birmingham (information on Black Country connections). I've been unable to find any baptisim entry for Leah Hanson on the IGI site but have found some interesting information on the Hanson family that may connect with Leah.

I've found this census entry:
1841 census
Rowley Regis (Whiteheath Gate)
John Hanson born 1776, Not in County, Nailor
Hannah Hanson born 1781, Not in County

Next door is Samuel Lowe born 1811, in County (possible relative of James Lowe who married Leah Hanson)

I found these who maybe related or the children of John & Hannah Hanson mentioned above:

Amos Hanson born 1811, Whiteheath Gate, Rowley Regis (same place John Hanson was living) possible marriage Sarah Ball 07 Feb 1832, St Martins Birmingham (same church and only a year apart from Leah Hanson).

Benjamin Hanson born 1795, Birmingham, Warwickshire married Hannah ? on the 1841 & 1851 census Benjamin and family are living next door to Amos Hanson & his family in Oldbury. I also found another Benjamin Hanson born 1793, Langley, Oldbury which is really confusing.

William Hanson born 1811, Rowley Regis possible marriage Mary Fletcher 03 SEP 1832 Saint Martin, Birmingham or Mary Millington 09 JUL 1832 Saint Phillips, Birmingham. Interestingly I found on the 1841 census Hannah Hanson born abt 1826, Family servant living in Rowley Regis with Thomas Millington born 1769 and son (another Thomas born 1815).

Samuel Hanson born 1796, Rowley Regis married Elizabeth? and was living with family in Oldbury.

The spelling of the surname seemed to have been Hanson or Anson.

I'm convinced Leah Hanson was related to the above but I'm not sure how and I've searched the IGI for any birth entries of the above but with no luck :?

I want to add these to our Black Country connections but need help to work out how they all fit together.

What do you think?

Kind regards
Adrian

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Hi Peter,

We only got the basic information of Hanson, Leah b. EST 1815 m. Lowe, James 25 Dec 1833, St Martins Birmingham.

I've tried the IGI to get a baptisim of Leah Hanson and I've tried the others mentioned but they're just not there or I'm not looking in the right place

I've found some possible marriage entries for those mentioned on the IGI but without the parents names I'm stuck.

I don't understand why I can't find any of these baptisims' listed on the IGI :?
Leah Hanson born abt 1815, Rowley Regis
Amos Hanson born abt 1811, Whiteheath Gate, Rowley Regis
William Hanson born abt 1811, Rowley Regis
Benjamin Hanson born abt 1795, Birmingham, Warwickshire
Samuel Hanson born abt 1796, Rowley Regis

Adrian, your baptisms could have been Non Conformists, Rowley and the BC was a hot bed for Non Conformists, unfortunately few of these Registers have survived. Your best bet would be to obtain copies of the Marriages you have listed and check for Witnesses or any other information there may be in the Parish Register. You need to write to the various Archives and ask for copies, they charge about £3.00 per entry. HTH from Linell.
