This family are connected to Linell and if you look at Census records below you can see why as Charles Herbert Brookes was a Civil Servant at Somerset House.
1901 Census 21 Carlton Vale Paddington London
Charles H. Brooks Boarder 19 Civil Servant 2nd Division Somerset House
Howard V. Brooks Boarder 18 Student for Civil Service
both born Stourbridge Worcs.

1911 Census 14 , Worsley Road Hampstead London
Charles Herbert Brooks 29 (s) Examiner , Exchequer,& Audit Dept.
Edith Muriel Brooks 22 (s) Clerk Money Order Dept.
Both Boarders born Stourbridge Worcs.

Hi Linell , I did not mean posh I meant that he worked at BMD records office Somerset House.
I have also found that Walter was nameds Walter Hammersley Brooks and was a Jounalist in 1901 and Sub-editor in 1911:-
1911 Census 23, South Street Stourbridge Worcs.
Stephen Albert Brooks Head (wid) 84 Retired Farmer born Lye Worcs.
Sarah Jane Brooks dau 41 born Lye Worcs.
Stephen Albert Brooks son 28 Farm Labourer born Lye Worcs.
Walter Hamersley Brooks son 30 Sub -editor Newspaper born Stourbridge Worcs.
Christina Margaret Brooks dau 24 born Stourbridge Worcs.

Many thanks for this Mumbles, how fascinating. I remember Somerset House, so Charles Herbert was a Civil Servant there, well they must have been a well to do, well educated family for Charles to reach such dizzy heights as the Civil Service. He must be on an Alumni somewhere. As for Walter Hammersley, there was a Hammersley Tailor's Factory in Cradley, think they were a Cradley Heath family, will look into that, much appreciate the information, thankyou Mumbles, from Linell.
