Arc tbc---William Stevens b

Post by Northern Lass »

Kaye has done a look up for Little Christine
and I wondered if the father for Annie Eliza Stevens could be this one here

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

on the marriage of his dau he is a chainmaker
the dob might be abt 1856....it would fit

can we find Ann/Annie Eliza...or she might even be down as Eliza Ann Stevens on census
prior to marriage in 1907

and get the dob for her father

So we might be able to connect up 3 ways
if that Wm Stevens with father Thomas is the one that marries Sarah Priest dau of shadrach

1874
STEVENS William PRIEST Sarah Dudley, St Thomas Dudley Register Office 204/031/388

I will confirm above marriage check fathers are Thomas and Shardrach

in the meantime can we find this Wm Stevens with father Thomas on census
in 1871 he is a striker in chainmakers
does he become a miner
then a chainmaker again?

if this one is with parents in 1881 we know it aint him

I have taken a look at the 1871 census and can find the following

Hi Christine yes it does on the Shardrach priest connection
the fact that they were married 38 yrs ties in with that marriage
so we can join Sarah Priest and Wm Stevens
I will do that now

can you then add all that excellent census info to the notes pls

we still can't join the Wm Stevens with father Thomas until we are very sure
so the marriage is on

but ahead of that look up
can we find a father Thomas Stevens without Wm on the 1881
or maybe Thomas father is living next door to our Wm....

I have added the info Jan

and I have been trying to find Thomas on the 1881 census but no joy yet. I did try the children and can find a samuel and William with ages that tie up as lodgers in Lomey Town and a James lodging in Lawrence Lane.

I have found a marriage between Mary Stevens and Samuel Green St Lukes 1905 Reference Sandwell Registry Office 20/4/228

On the 1881 Ann Stevens is a wid living with Betsy Millard(dau) and Edward
so Thomas does die before then
we have him dying before 1879

so looks like you could fill in a few marriages on Betsy to Edward

I cant join up William b 1856 till we get that marriage looked up see if father is Thomas

I dont know who this one is but it cant be ours as ours dies

1881 at 43 Spinners End Rowley Regis, Stafford
Thomas STEVEN 60 Dudley, Worcester, Chainmaker
Ann STEVEN 54 Cradley Heath, Stafford,

Hi Jan

I have not had any luck yet on tying up the marriage for Betsy to Edward Millward, I suppose its possible it was not the first time around for Betsy so I will have another think.

thanks christine

Don't worry Christine you could always add in the notes that there is a possible marriage as they were wits at marriage

Going to flag this one now to archive

so unless anyone has anymore to add we can move to archive

Ok well now I have checked that marriage for William Stevens and for Sarah Priest

She checks out with father Shadrach
but

William Stevens father is George not Thomas
so good job we can look these up

can we find George father with son William Stevens ( b abt 1856) on census
George is a chainmaker
William is a miner

marriage is 1874

so 1871 would be good
