Bugle Annual 2009

Post by linell »

Got my Bugle Annual today, am over the moon as one of my articles I sent in and some pictures are in there. On page 74 is the story of Samuel Crew who we covered on here, the young lad who drowned together with two friends, Phylis Chandler and Mary Ann Wells in the Netherton Canal 1914. The article lists the names of the mourners, plus details of Witnesses etc. Also a very interesting article with lots of pictures regarding the Guest Family from Ambelcote. Horace Richard Guest was a Great War Veteran, an Architect for the family Building Business; he sadly died aged only 34. Packed with plenty of wonderful pictures and stories, would recommend to anyone who lives or loves the BC. Linell.

Can you buy it online Lin?
I'd love to read it.
I have seen odd bits online but am loving reading the 1980 ones I have to look through. Not being from the area really makes a difference reading it for me.

Hi Jo, yes you can order from their Web Site:- www.blackcountrybugle.co.uk think you can order back copies too. On the other hand, I ordered mine from our local Newsagent. Well worth a read, I have them all going back to 1973/4. Let us know if you get a copy. Linell.

I sometimes think the old ways of buying are easier :!: Yes order it over the phone Jo. I must have missed your article last year San, will have a search for it today. I think it would be a good idea if we let the Bugle know what we all do on here, and how it was one Ladies passion that drove it all. Linell.

Oh yes San  I did read it, how could I forget :?: :?:

By the way, after all these years I just realised you are reseaching Henley's. I have a Thomas born about 1830 Netherton/Dudley, his daughter Elizabeth Sophia Married Felix Hingley, is Thomas one of yours?

Henley and Hendley...mmmm only 1 letter different :?

Here's my Hendleys ... here

and here's your Henleys ...here

Perhaps if we get both marriages looked up to see if they share the same father?
