This is the only Josiah I can find in Halesowen 1851, Birmingham Street

Josiah Grove HD M 49 Nailer Halesowen
Sarah Wife 60 Nailer Halesowen
Joseph Westwood Lodger W 70 Labourer Halesowen

I suppose it could be this Josiah, being as Sarah was 60 in 1851, she could well have died leaving Josiah a Widow :!:

Yes, I think Josiah was Married to Sarah, she died and he married Leonora, then she died and he married Mary.
there are Josiah Groves of the right age sequentially in the census living at Birmingham St., Halesowen. Married first to Sarah, then Mary. With a death for Leonora between their marriage and the next census:

Free BMD death:
Leonora Grove abt 1811 1870 Stourbridge Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire
Some mistakes are too much fun

1861 Census B'ham Street Halesowen
Josiah Grove 58 (says he was 56 a year later when he Married Leonora.)
Sarah Wife 69

There's a death for Sarah Grove DEC Qtr 1861 Stourbridge Registration District.

Can anyone find Josiah in 1841 please?

Found this Marriage:-
Josiah Grove and Sarah Holloway 17.4.1825 St Thomas Dudley.

I would think that is correct, Holloway was a big Halesowen name.

Will post a look up for it, see if they were bach and spinster.

Thanks for the 1841 details Di. Josiah's dob seems all over the place from 1796 - 1806. Yes the Holloways in B'ham Street must be connected to Sarah. The Hollies were Butchers. Also noticed a Lucy Grove aged 20 in B'ham Street :?:

Can't find Josiah in 1871 :?: Could someone else see if they can find him please? Would be a Widower on his own.

1881 Census B'ham Street Halesowen (he didn't move far)
Josiah Grove 83 Nailer born Halesowen
Mary Wife 53 Charwoman Wolverhampton

Sorry couldn't resist that

Ok can't find a Marriage for Josiah and Mary. Will enter what we have onto BCC.

Hi NL, no don't mention cleaning, not till tomorrow morning at any rate :!: Here is the link:- http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =323627412

Completed for now, just waiting on look ups.

One query, your Marriage details for Josiah and Leonora, you have her father down as John Hobbis :?: Should be Job :?:

Will have a look at the Halesowen PR's for parents of Josiah.

Best Wishes from Linell.
