my gran was gertrude hill nee taylor and she used to tell me the story of a baby that was born on board on a man o war in the bay of biscay and there was a newspaper report about with a photo of her in the county express she was a old lady in a high backed chair with a croched hat on her head which could have been a mop cap that was all i knew about this baby over the last 12yrs i have found out alot more her name was maria and she was grans mom minnie jukes greatgrand mother maria was born c1777 on board hms worcester she was christened on board the ship her god father was lieutenant horatio nelson when ichecked i found nelson was on board the ship at the time and in the spring of 1777 he took his lieutenant exams so that checked out i looked up the worcester and found she was a 64 gun third rate ship and she was broken up in 1814 by september 1777 nelson is on another ship. old maria has i call her married a william freeman
1841 cenus maria and william are living in a cottage on the bromyard downs with daughter maryann wall or could be granddaughter not sure which.1848 william dies in bromyard old maria comes to stourbridge to be near maryann and her husband wilkinson hatton .1851 cencus old marie is living in windmill street which is now church streetwith a lady named carpenter who was awittness at maryanns wedding she aged 71and acharlady and is from bromyard.1861 cencus old maria is living off brettle lane has a lodger is down has a nurse age 81 and coming from bristol.1871 cencus.she is living at chawn hill maryann has died in 1865 and
willkinson hatton and his daughter mary a are living with her she is on parish relief.1881 cenus old maria is
living at lower swinford january 1882 old maria dies and is buried in oldswinford churchyard.
if anyone looking thro the the old newspapers in stourbridge libary and
they come across the report would they let me
knew we have gone up to 1914 ourselfs without much luck

thank i have found the log book for the worcester
iwas told nelson was told nelson on board until sept 1777

minnie jukes mother elizabeth jukes who married/livedtogether william whitehouse jukes
never found a marriage for those two elizabethis the daughter of wilkinson hatton /maryann wall
they married 1844 at old swinford dates are wrong bbc they could not have on ther for long
has i check for family often this the first site i have with them on

how do you know that that Elizabeth that married William Whitehouse Jukes
is the dau of Wilkinson Hatton and Mary Wall?
if you havent got the marriage you cant be sure of the father surely unless clues on census

and do you mean bcc not bbc.... :shock:
and if so what do you mean :?:
sorry don't understand as we dont have the Wilkinson info on we only have the Jukes on ie Minnies father

1844 is the correct date for a marriage between Wilkinson hatton and mary ann wall
but we dont have that on BCC yet as we need more proof on this Eliz Hatton and her parents
