Post by HarryinKF »

I have a family of Dingleys living in the Halesown area that I have been trying to connect up to the other Dingleys of the area if possible. So I am posting them in the hope someone can help me with them.

HarryofKF

Here they are:
I have one good guess, but nothing solid enough to make a connection at this time to the rest of the Dingleys on Black Country Connections.

Known information on this family based on a family Bible and the fact that the family of James Dingley (b. cir 1855) as it appears in the 1881 census and the 1901 census fits the information in the family bible.

Right I have added them - well the ones that werent on already and it is very interesting Harry.
If you look at the link I will post in a minute you will see that if you follow your Vincett line via the Dingleys ie Mary WR Dingley back up to Samuel 1794 you will see Samuels father William b 1755 married twice. 1. Nancy Priest and 2. Sarah Keeming.

William and Nancy had Samuel b 1794

and William and Sarah had Henry b 1802.

follow Henry Dingley b 1802 line down and you get to james Dingley b abt 1855/1858 (we have 1858) wife Eliz Shepherd.

So the connection is Samuel b 1794 and Henry b 1802 are step bros with same father ie William b 1755.

Black Country Connections the place to be linked to!....

Hi,

Yes I had seen the William H Dingley that matched the William H. I was adding, but I tend to be rather cautious in hooking up relatives unless I am sure. Some of the information I had didn't support the match so I hesitated.

First the 1881 census showed my William to have been born in Hasbury and living with his father James age 26 who was born in Rowley Regis. Which differed from the James listed on the Black Country Connections Dingley, James b. ABT 1858 The Hill, Worcestershire.
Also, a descendant of William said that James was a son of Henry Dingley and the grandfather of James was John Dingley.

Since I myself didn't have any proof of the connection, I didn't think I should make it. But that is Genealogy, you keep checking.

hmm ..........well the Edmund & James were already on BCC & his wife Elizabeth Shepherd & their son William Henry.
So it was just a case of add the wife of William Henry ie Selena Moore.

You really need to verify with the marriage to be sure on the father of James as Edmund

But I think you will find they are one and the same James with father Edmund.

1873
DINGLE James SHEPHERD Elizabeth Stourbridge Register Office Dudley Register Office 001/006/113

JAMES DINGLEY
Christening: 11 FEB 1856 Halesowen, Worcester,
Father: EDMUND DINGLEY Family
Mother: MARY ANN
Extracted birth

I find that they often put different places of birth so Halesowen/RRegis interchangeable.
he does seem to say RR on later census and on the 1871 with father Edmund says Hill. but dont let that worry you they put anything down.

I think it is one and the same.
On the 1881 they are still in new St as they were in 1871
and on the 1881 you will notice that next door to James and wife Elizabeth is Edmund Dingley and wife Mary ann and his age agrees with the age we have.
Oh and remeber the dob was only an abt date!

I think that is good odds one and the same

Yes I was just being cautious, there is at least one other Dingley family on BCC that could be Jame's parent, but the tie bettween James and Elizabeth William is solid.

Here are some additions to Dennis 1784 and his family

Dingley, Dennis
b. 11 Jul 1784
Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, England
Christened 7 Nov 1784
St Johns, Halesowen, Worcester, England
d. ABT 1866
m. Rose, Mary
13 Mar 1809
Frankley, Worcester, U.K.

Rose, Mary
b.ABT 1789
Northfield, Staffordshire, England
m. Dingley, Dennis
m.13 Mar 1809
Frankley, Worcester, U.K.
d. ABT 1866

Son

Dingley, Samuel
b. 1810
Quinton Parish Church, Worcestershire
Christened 17 Jun 1810
St. Johns Halesowen
m. CONSTABLE, Ann
ST Thomas, Dudley, Worchester
24 Jul 1831

CONSTABLE, Ann
b. ABT 1810
m. Dingley, Samuel
24 Jul 1831

Son

Dingley, Dennis
b. ABT 1845
Tipton, Stafford, UK
m. Unknown, Mary
Bef 1874
Tipton

Unknown, Mary
b. ABT 1849
Oldbury, Worcester
m. Dingley, Dennis
Bef 1874

Actually I side tracked I was going to add a couple of names to David,s (1827) line and ended up just making a few additions to names already on BCC.

Thought I would start adding some Vincetts who had apparently emigrated from Rye to the Black Country. Haven't made a connection between them and my Dad's family yet though.
