I think a number of people on this forum and bcc connect to this Rollason family from Dudley: you may be interested in a detail I have just added to bcc:
Sarah Whale b abt 1827, has the surname given as 'Whale' on the birth certificate of (at least) one of her children. However, her marriage, 17/10/1847 at Tipton, gives her surname as 'Wheale', with her fathers name John Wheale. I have no further details on this marriage, which was sent to me by a very reliable source some time ago.
Can anyone come up with any further details on John and Sarah Whale/ Wheale?

if we trace them back in census there might be a whale/wheale near or living with them does the witness on marriage cert give any help ?

That's them in 1881 - the John (& Ellen) entry is their son. The name Jeremiah crops up a number of times - one was my gt grandfather.

I don't have witness names from the marriage certificate, as I don't have it (something to do!)

Steve the marriage can be looked up at Dudley or Sandwell
not sure when as the list is huge!

but if you put the church day month year etc then add it to that particular thread in look up requests
it will be added to the list
