Marraige register

Post by Paul-E »

Hi,

When checking out marraiges registered On Ancestry all that is listed is months and year, Bride OR Groom name, District, Vol and Page

Is the only way of finding who the name listed was married to is by obtaining a certificate from the district listed?

Hope that made sense!

Hi Paul do you mean there are a few on there of grooms and brides and it could be any of them?
if so then the census comes into play and is useful for finding who married whom
or
the IGI will help
or
the UK bmd is very very good

In ancestry if you click on show image you will just find the info you state but if you click on show others on page you will be given between 4 and 8 names.

It is not possible to tell which female married which male from this but it does give possibilities and then as NL says you ned to use census returns to try to narrow down the possibilities.

Is this now Completed?

If so if you can just add the word Completed to the first post subject title and or on the end of this thread the Mods can pick it up and archive it
unless you need any more info on this subject
