NEW TO THIS SITE
Hello everyone, My name is Jane and I've decided that its about time someone in the family did the family tree, so here I am.
Its early days yet and I'm looking for the surnames TAYLOR, HILL AND EVANS for the time being.
When I was a child my great gran told me a story about her great gran (4x removed from her) who gave birth on board a ship and also on that ship was LORD NELSON who was asked to become GODFATHER to her newborn child.
He did so and somewhere in the family is supposed to be a document to prove this but I have not found it yet. This story is well known throughout the generations of my family. I have a big task ahead of me so any help would be grateful. The people Im looking for with the surnames above were born or at least living in the LYE, WOLLESCOTE and STOURBRIDGE areas of the WEST MIDLANDS from around 1865 to 1956. Thanks for reading my very long introduction.

Hi Jane welcome
If you have Black Country ancestors if you scroll down the main board then we
have a dedicated section to that area called Black Country Genealogy so post any queries in there.
A few of us are also involved in a huge project to see how all the names link together for that area
click on my website logo on any of my posts to view that project, it is called Black Country Connections.
For any other query then do post in the General Discussion area

Hi Sue, Wow, what a turn up. Who was your mom then? The only Sue I recall was Joys mom.
Yes uncle Colin told me about Mr Evans but all I know is that he had a brother called Henry.
I'm trying to find Gertrude Hills grandparents on her dads side. I know who her mothers parents were but I want to trace both sets of grandmothers to see if I can get back to this Nelson connection. So I'm looking for George Thomas Taylors parents. His grandmother was Harriet. I also need to find out about ted who was gertrude hills brother. I think one of his sons( Raymond) lives by wynall shops but is in his 80's I think and I have been told his not well at the moment and don't no if I should go knocking on his door or not. look forward to hearing from you.
