*Arc tbc* -Missing Children

Post by Nutsy »

I've had contact today from releative who is also reseraching the family tree and she has uncovered a death cert for one our ancestors (this person has been a bit of mystery as to when and where she died).

Anyway on the death cert, it names two children (deceased) who I don't have in my tree.

This is the family on connections http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =779634099

On Susannah's death cert it states that there were 2 other children Simeon and Clara (Deceased)

I've had somone look at the 1861 and 1871 census for me and there is no mention of either Simeon or Clara on either of these census. I've also had a look on IGI trying to find a birth for them, but no such luck for Simeon. Did find a Clara born on Cradley in 1868, but in 1881 she was in service as a domestic assistant, living with a Mr Harry DORSE.

So,I now find myself turning to you guys and asking if anyone can shed any light on these two missing children at all?

Hi Nutsy

Just wondering what the death certificate recorded as cause of death for Susannah? I have never seen more than one death recorded on one certificate and wondered whether she died in childbirth of twins? or is that too far fetched?

Yes, that Simeon is a brother to Thomas, but the Simeon I'm looking for was a child of Thomas and Susannah

Cause of death for Susannah was Dysenty, Syncope, Duration 4 days.Sheh was 59 yrs old when she died. We've never been able to find a death for her, as Thomas pre-deceased her. They emmigrated to Australia sometime after 1881census. We thought that maybe Susannah may have gone home to England after Thomas died, but it would seem that assumption was incorrect as she died here in Australia in 1893

Sorry, but that is not the same Simeon. They apparantly had another son by the name of Simeon who must have died as an infant.

Death cert states that children of marriage are (ages at time of Susannah's death).........

Sophia 37

Joseph 35

Edwin 31

Noah 29

Delilah 27

Thomas 23

Simeon 18

All living

Then there is Clara and Simeon deceased.

So as you can see Simeon John is not the one I'm trying to find, he is a later birth.

poss birth

HARRIS Simeon 1869 Halesowen West Midlands Dudley Register Office HAL/028/458

plus two others

HARRIS Simeon 1874 Rowley Regis West Midlands Sandwell Register Office RR/61/116
HARRIS Simeon 1875 Rowley Regis West Midlands Sandwell Register Office RR/63/200

one death

HARRIS Simeon 1875 - Rowley Regis West Midlands Sandwell Register Office RR/33/157

so its poss the 1874 as the 75 will be the one in the 1881 census and if it was the 1869 he would be in 1871 census and he not ?

Simeon John was born 18th June 1874

I was thinking these two missing ones may have been born sometime between 1869 and 1874 as Thomas was born in 1869 and then Simeon John in 1874, so there's a big gap in there where Susannah may have had two more children, as all the others are 2 years apart except Joseph who was born 1859 and Edwin in 1862.

Thanks for your help Pete

I'm wondering if Clara and Simeon died in their first year of life or shortly after. Just that with that 5 year gap in the childrens ages Thomas 1869 then Simeon John in June of 1874, really has me leaning towards these other two births being in between those two, esp with Simeon John being the last child born.
