Past tenants of my house

Hello,
I am trying to find out who the previous tenants of my council house were as it dates back to the beginning of the second world war. I would LOVE to be able to get going and get an idea of its history but I have no idea how to search for people by an address? does anyone have any help? I don't even know who lived here before me and I only moved in 2 1/2 years ago.

Use the Electoral Register. These are normally available in main libraries or record offices.

Today I was looking at the Electoral Register for 1909 to see who was living at a particular address at that time.
