Postby ebelthite » Mon Aug 11, 2003 2:14 pm

I'm using GenoPro for my family tree research.
Can be downloaded free from

Great for creating graphical family trees.

It's funny you should mention that Chris - I'm using the same thing, and find it far easier to use than most others, yet it seems to have a relatively (no pun intended ) small user base. The user interface with most packages seems to be slightly counter-intuitive. Doing things in tree form is so much easier. The only minor problem I've found is that once you pass a few hundred entires, the autoarrange feature starts to struggle, and tends to overlap a lot of lines. Apparently the next release (if it ever materialises - development sadly looks as though it may have ground to a near or complete halt) deals with this.

The only other thing I tend to use regularly is the LDS Personal Ancestry File package, purely because it's great for working out the exact relationship of very distant relatives.

I've been using for a few years now.
Although does lack a few fields that you tend to get with database style programs, it's gives you a great view and feel of your tree...

Yes I'm still awaiting the auto arrange fix ....

forum for this package is : http://www.genoclub.com/billboard/board.html
