1881 8 Woodwards Bldgs Darlaston, Stafford
William B. BROWN M Male 48 Walsall, Stafford, Hinge Caster
Ann BROWN M Female 42 Walsall, Stafford,
Mary A. BROWN 24 Walsall, Stafford, Brush Filler
Catharine BROWN 21 Walsall, Stafford, Buckle Maker
Ann BROWN 9 Walsall, Stafford, Scholar
Richard BROWN 6 Walsall, Stafford, Scholar
Emily BROWN 2 Walsall, Stafford,
Will. B. KENDRICK 6 m Darlaston, Stafford, G,son
1871: 62 Rushall St, Walsall, Staffs
Ann Allen 32 Head Housekeeper
Richard Allen 45 Brother Bricklayers Lab
William Allen (says Brown on Image) 37 Brother In Law Iron Caster
William Brown 14 Nephew Iron Filer
Mary A Brown 15 Neice Stitcher
Catherine Brown 12 Neice Stitcher
all born Walsall
Unless there is an obvious marriage certificate is it possible that William and Ann did not argue when they moved house and their neighbours assumed they were married - they had been living in the same house for over 20 years! - also legally I don't think he could marry his dead wife's sister at that time.

Re: ONIONS, BROWN, TIFT and WALKER
Don't know whether this helps or confuses but found these two marriages:
Henrietta Brown 1897 Walsall Staffordshire
Samuel Parke 1897 Walsall Staffordshire
Mary Thacker 1897 Walsall Staffordshire
John Walker 1897 Walsall Staffordshire
Henrietta Walker 1915 Onions Dudley (1913 Onw) Staffordshire, Worcestershire
Colin Onions 1915 Walker Dudley (1913 Onw) Staffordshire, Worcestershire
Whether this is pure conincidence or Henrietta marrying twice is the question
Henrietta Brown 1897 Walsall Staffordshire

Re: ONIONS, BROWN, TIFT and WALKER
I am still confused about the legallity of marrying dead wife's sisters etc - Iknow someone put a link on earlier on another thread but it was in so much lawyer speak I couldn't follow it but the date of the change was 1921 - as I believe it is legal now I thought it was illegal in 1871 - which is not to say it didn't happen
Marriages Jun 1871
Allen Ann Walsall 6b 853
Brown William Beard Walsall 6b 853
1871: 62 Rushall St, Walsall, Staffs
Ann Allen 32 Head Housekeeper

William Allen (says Brown on Image) 37 Brother In Law Iron Caster
William Brown 14 Nephew Iron Filer
Mary A Brown 15 Neice Stitcher
Catherine Brown 12 Neice Stitcher
all born Walsall
1851/1841 census of Allen family/families would help + possible first marriage of William Brown with sister of Ann

Re: ONIONS, BROWN, TIFT and WALKER
I have no marriage certificates . . . yet. Right now I am amazed (and also swamped!) with all the information you have found. It appears that many of the names do fit with what I have been told, specifically the ONIONS names but the others sound like probabilities rather than possibilities.
"Yep here they are :
1901 16 Lewis Street
John Walker 25 Currier (Leather) Rushall
Henrietta Walker 23 WAlsall
May Walker 2 Walsall
Janet Walker 1 Walsall"
I wonder about this since I know they owned a pub in the 1930s and 1940s. I suppose that could have come about later in their lives.
"Marriages Dec 1854
Allen Mary Ann Walsall 6b 873
Brown William Walsall 6b 873 "
The dates would seem to fit but I have no knowledge of these people as far as being related or not.
I need to explain that I am new to all this and a bit lost at present. My information came mainly from an aunt who worked for Henrietta Walker (her aunt) at the pub when needed. I am trying to put a family tree together for my children and grandchildren which is why I joined. Do you know of a similar genealogy site for the Cannock (Staffs) area? My father's side is from that area, Cheslyn Hay, to be precise.
