1871 living in looks like Dukirk Forge, West Bromwich,

Elishah Barns,58,miner
Hannah Barns, 58,
Caroline Barns,14,
John Barns,17,miner

It looks as though they have written born in Lepton except Caroline born in West Bromwich

The fact that John is placed after Caroline although he is older sort of fits with the fact that in 1861 he ahs a different name.

Was Hannah a widow with previous sons?

You guys are fantastic :)

I had just found them on the 1881 census, could not find them on the 1871 tho, as far as i've got with them is that Hannah Butcher married a William Beach in 1840 and was widowed in 1841 with no children.
Then she marries my ggggrandad Elijah in 1853, but by then she has Job Glase B: 1849 and Thos Glase B:1851 according to the census, now i have not been able so far to find another marriage (if there is one she deffinatley works fast racking the husbands up :)) my gggrandma Caroline B: 1855 and her brother John B:1858.

Altho on the census it definatley say's Glase as surnames for Job and Thos and that they are the sons :? another misertry to solve if i can.

Big thanks and hugs

I'll try again it lost this the last time I tried

1851
Thomas Glaze,Head,38,Coal Miner, Bilston
HAnnah Glaze,Wife,38,Tipton
Mary Anne Glaze,Daug, 16,Tipton
Thomas Glaze, Son, 2,West Bromwich

My guess is that Mary Anne is his daughter by a previous marriage.

Now I really should go to bed and try to sleep!

Hannah Glaze m Elijah Barnes 1859 Tipton, St Martin ref 39/9/142 from bmsgh.org

Perhaps Elisha marrie two Hannahs?
Had Caroline with the first wife and then married Hannah Glaze who already had kids? The marriage entry should confirm it.

Elijah Barnes married Hannah Beach Tipton St Martin ( Sandwell 39/7/200)

At least he didn't get the name of the second wife mixed with the first!!

I have the marriage cert for Elijah Barnes and Hannah Beach (nee Butcher) in 1853 he is age 30 and a Bacholar, and she is 32 and a widow, so guessing as i cant find a marriage for Hannah Beach/Butcher and a Thomas Glase, maybe they had children out of wedlock and he died, so Elijah took them on?

If she did marry a Glase before Elijah would'nt it say on the marriage cert like Hannah Beach/Glase nee Butcher?

Just thinking out lound, maybe i need to send for a cert for one of the Glase childre and see what it says.

Also on Caroline's Birth cert it say's mother Hannah Barnes late Beach formerly Butcher, again no mention of a Glase
