Re: Brierley Hill - Raybould
Hi Northern Lass
The children to my Richard & Mary are all those you listed in the last message. Samuel is my great x 3 grandfather and he moved to Tunstall, then Hoyland near Barnsley and then Sheffield where he died.
I have the birth certificate for Ann Raybould 1840 which stated Mary Stevens as her mother.
Class: HO107; Piece: 2036; Folio: 325; Page: 18; GSU roll: 87443-87444. (This is Richard with second wife Hannah)
Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 2034; Folio: 103; Page: 21; GSU roll: 87441. (This is the other Mary with her children. She is head of household but says she is still married)

Ah, found the thread again lol.
Yes, Richard is described as a widower on the 1850 marriage to Hannah Gardener. Hannah was a spinster. She had an illegitimate child. They are on the 51 census with 6 of his children to Mary (Benjamin, Elizabeth, Thomas, Ann, Hannah & Mary). Also with them is their first child together, Emma, and Hannah's illegitimate child Eliza Ann Gardener. The image on ancestry is terrible and is badly mistranscribed as Ruchala. Just sent them an email to correct it.
Claire
You did well finding that
they are at Brierley Hill Kingswinford Staffs
Richard Raybould and Hannah exactly as you say
need the other one now

Re: Brierley Hill - Raybould
I must admit that I had never seen the other Richard & Mary before until today. Because Samuel and his father Richard stated birth place of Brierley Hill on all the census I have for them, I had found them easyish (apart from bad transcriptions) to find them both.
The original link that peterd gave to the black country tree said that Richard Raybould born 1803c in Hallesowen. My Richard stated on all census until death that he was born Brierley Hill, although he is also born aprox same year. My knowledge of Staffordshire isnt very good and I dont know how close Hallesowen and Brierley Hill are.

Hi Linell & Northern Lass
Many thanks for helping to clarify the two families.
Are the Brierley Hill parish records held at Dudley Archives? I have never been to Dudley and it is quite far for me to travel to but I think I probably need to visit there to look through the records of this place to further research my Raybould ancestry.
Are there any disks that are purchasable with the BH records on?
I would dearly like to find the baptism of Richard and the burial of Mary.

Re: Brierley Hill - Raybould
Hi Claire and NL, many thanks for flagging that up. I have changed my tree to Richard born about 1803 Cradley and Mary born about 1810 Aston, living in Overend Cradley 1841, Richard died before 1851. Which is the right Marriage for them? I have the Old Swinford one in 1826? Best Wishes from Linell.

Re: Brierley Hill - Raybould

Re: Brierley Hill - Raybould
Hi NL
Thanks for the info re Brierley Hill, will take a look at those. I dont own a fiche reader so dependent on books/cds but still think I have got to get to Dudley in the future.
I dont know exact year Richard Raybould was born. From ages on census and the age his daughter gave for him at death, he is born 1800-1804c at Brierley Hill. Mary nee Stevens died between 1845 (last child baptised this year) and 1850 when he re-married to Hannah. There are 2 possibles listed in the Stourbridge area that could be her, think I will need to purchase both certificates to find out which one is mine.
Thanks for all your help, its been much appreciated
