It all depends on what you're eating whether you use a knife & fork. If you were eating a Chinese meal you would/should use chopsticks. Indian meal I just use a fork, BUT, you shouldn't use that really as you use the naan bread instead to pick up the food. Fish & chips are so much better out of the paper using your fingers. When we have fish & chips on a Friday I must admit we do have them on plates, but I only use a fork to cut the fish and use my fingers to eat the chips.

Suppose what I mean is sitting down at the table for a proper meal or even on a tray
Steak and chips for eg you can't cut up the steak and then lay the knife down and leaning on yer elbow
just use your fork... :o
it is bad manners surely!

mind you I had Kfc last nite and used me fingers
but then that sort of meal yes fingers are ok

Can't believe that of you Jimmy :o but a girl who was at school when I was many , many years ago their family did have to use jam jars , and she would ask others to save theirs when they where empty for her.

Hi Northern Lass I fully agree about not using a knife it gets my goat when I see people just using forks, and if you watch 'Corrie' David Platt eats with his fingers and few others which I think is bad.
