*Arc tbc*--Burials - Kingswinford / Black Country area

Elizabeth Bullock - died 19/12/1923 in Kingswinford aged 59
Margaret Jane Cotterill - died 15/08/1944 at daughters house in Sedgeley although actually lived at Pensnett, Kingswinford aged 82
Henry Hartley - died 17/08/1887- Union Workhouse, Kingswinford, Staffordshire aged 71 (77 on death certificate)
Thomas Roberts - died 12/01/1901 - Quarry Bank, Staffordshire aged 74
Edmund Cotterill - 02/12/1851 - Tansey Green, Pensnett, Kingswinford aged 54
Ann Crockett - died Mar Q 1861 Kingswinford
Ann Hartley - died 26/01/1877 - Compton Kinver, Staffordshire aged 45
Any details or further information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You may find some of them on here Truebrit:- http://www2.dudley.gov.uk/burial_records/regenq.asp
I would also try Stourbridge Crem. HTH from Linell.

Re: Burials - Kingswinford / Black Country area
Thanks Peterd and Linell
I have tried that Dudley site and whilst i expected to find some of them - particularly the later ones i could not find any. All very frustrating when i know the actual date of death to help pin the burials down!
As for the Kidderminster reference info - has anybody tried this? I am just a bit concerned that i may fork out for information that may prove useless. I had the same experience with the National Burial Index which despite being invaluable to some people sadly yielded nothing for me!!!
If anybody has any other ideas or are able to have a quick look at the Parish records (if these are available?) i would be most grateful.
Kind regards

Re: Burials - Kingswinford / Black Country area
Hi Tuebrit, would gladly look for you but as you must realise there must have been at least 20 Churches in the Kingswinford/Pensnett/Quarry Bank area, some were Non Conformists but also had Churchyards. If you knew what Religion your Ancestors were or where they went to Church it would help. I should think the Kinver Burial would be the easiest to find? I would definitely phone Stourbridge Crem, they have lists apparently, they know who was Cremated there. Not everyone is on that Dudley link I posted. You could also try Dudley Council regarding the later burials, they should know who is buried in their Municpal Cemeteries surely? Do let us know if you come up with anything more. Best Wishes from Linell.
P.S. I do sympathise with you, I have some that I cannot find, hardest part of family research I think!

Am new, so hi all.
Noticed the request for burial info and as the owner of three non-profit making sites in respect of Black Country Churchyards and Cemeteries, would like to offer my help.
There are three of us who work together and there are currently over 1500 photos of headstones online. We hold nearly 5000! Despite the sites having only been online a few months, we have been overwhelmed with the positive response.
If, after looking at the following sites you need any help, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks Linell.
I am not sure which church they would be under although the odd few i have managed to locate have been associated with St Marks and i think one was St Mary's, Kingswinford!
I am hoping that having the actual death date will help narrow the search down. If you are able to help i would be most appreciative.
Thanks serenity for the links - i will check them out although i do not hold up much hope for a grave marker with these ones!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Trubrit,
Thanks for your reply. Will check through the photos I have for St Marks and St Mary's, just in case.
Hi mallosa,
Spooky eh? Really glad you have found the sites useful - if inscriptions need to be clarified, don't hesitate to ask
I intend to put info on all the photos but this will be a long process, hence late nights, early mornings.

Ok TrueBrit had a bit of luck....

I will be adding these to the Black Country Connections tree so if you have any other info to add to them let me know
if you would like to get involved in the tree pm me.
Click on my web link to see what I am talking about
Quite a few of us are involved in this project.
Elizabeth Bullock is buried at St Marys Kingswinford
details are....24 Dec 1923 St Marys KingswinfordElizabeth Bullock - 4 Market St - 59 yrs Norman Hemingway perf the ceremony.
Margaret Jane Cotterill 15/8/1944
Sorry no luck here as registers at Dudley only go up to 1944 early months certainly not August
but apparently the church has them according to the archivists there.
So might be worth a phone call to St Marys Kingswinford
Holy Trinity ended earlier than 1944
Not at all saints sedgley either
Henry Hartley 17/8 /1887
Yes got lucky
21 August 1887 St marys Kingswinford
Henry Hartley - High Street- 21- August 1887 age 77 yrs
Thomas Roberts
not at St Marys K'ford
not at Quarry Bank
so could be anywhere!
Edmund Cotterill
not at St Marys
not at Holy Trinity Wordsley
so could be anywhere!
Ann Crockett
not at St Marys
not at Holy Trinity Wordsley
so could be anywhere
Ann Hartley
sorry no idea on that one not at St Marys
now this is only what I could find
so I advise you to check yourself as I might have missed em.

Re: Burials - Kingswinford / Black Country area
Thanks for the info Northern Lass.
I had previously been informed of a few registry entries at St Mark's, Pensnett but had not looked towards St Mary or Holy Trinity. Perhaps they hold details of some of my lost christenings and other deaths........
Deaths:
Hannah Cotterill - death in Mar Q 1854 in Kingswinford - Edmund'd second wife - this might be St Mark's?
Benjamin Roberts - death Mar Q 1860 - Oldbury , Langley District
Ann Roberts - death Mar Q 1865 - Oldbury - Langley District
Christenings:
Arthur Cotterill - born 08/02/1862 in Tansey Green Pensnett (St Mark's?)
Thomas Roberts - born abt 1828 in Oldbury (other siblings born in Rounds Green?)
Emma Jane Cotterill - born 06/09/1886 in Tansey Green, Pensnett
Ruth Maud Holloway - born 12/04/1912 - Tansey Green, Pensnett
If you can spot any of these i'd also be grateful.
Kind regards

Re: Burials - Kingswinford / Black Country area
I am moving this to the Look up requests section as someone may be able to help you
but because you dont know the church or the day month year (which is what we need) I can't add
it to the list we use for Dudley and Smethwick archives.
for a look up request to go on in there we need as detailed in my initial post on that thread ie day month year church
or if marriage bmsgh ref at end which is the entry number and then the year.
So I will now move this whole post to look up requsts
Can't promise it will get done though without the full details
