Just out of interest do you know who their kids married.. Eliza for one

Hi Farside, I know that Ann Maria married a William Raven, James married a Celia Griffiths, Elizabeth married a Robert Harris, William married an Eliza Taffler & Thomas married Mary Ann Law. Don't know about Edward and Joseph.

As for the others I THINK are James & Ann's children I haven't looked into that because I have no concrete evidence that they are the children of my James & Ann Nock

Might be worth checking them out though do you reckon ?

NL - you were right you had found that one for me before

I guess i'm gonna have to go check the records for all of the local churches around Rowley,Tipton, Dudley.
Would it be better to go to the Staffs Register office ? They would have all of the records together wouldn't they ?

Hi Simon

Dudley churches are at Dudley archives
Tipton and Rowley are at Smethwick library aka Sandwell archives
not sure on what is at Staffs think Rowley is not sure on Tipton being there

but Nocky there are loads of churches!

Hi ya NL,
thanks for the info.. cant believe that there are no other Nocks related to mine on the Connections site. Have started a new approach in printing off the IGI listings for all Nocks in the different areas. Then have started to look through connections for links on the list; hopefully I might come accross a connection somewhere.

Hi all,
been some time since i last posted something; have recently looked at my Ancestry account and a few other researchers have posted the parents of James Nock as William Nock (b: abt 1740 Dudley) and Leah Yardley (b: abt 1750 Dudley), does anyone have any information about these two people? I did a bit of digging and on the IGI indexes and searched for offspring of William and Leah Nock; came up with just the two ~ James 1779 - R.Regis and Thomas 1777 - Brierley Hill.

Northern Lass : - Hi ya, hope you are well;
The birth date of James would fit in to the previous research I've done; just need to confirm who James married either Ann Priest or Ann Freeman.

Hi Nocky, there are a quite a few Nocks in the Cradley Baptist Register, a John and Ann and a William and Ann are having children circa 1790. May be worth your while searching the Non Conformist Registers. There is only one Nock listed in the Rowley Regis Land Tax Register of 1781, that was Tobias Nock. HTH from Linell.

Hi NL,
the IGI has both of these Ann's marrying a James Nock, Ann Priest 25 SEP 1803 Saint Michael, Lichfield, Stafford, England and Ann Freeman 03 FEB 1806 Halesowen, Worcester, England

No definite marriage details but based on the above dates I would suggest Ann Priest.

Children of James and Ann Priest / Freeman: -

John 1806 R.Regis
William 1804 ~ 1806 R.Rgeis
Benjamin 1810 ~ R.Regis
Sam'l 1807 ~ R.Regis

Then there are : -

Ann Maria 1815 St Thomas, Dudley
James 1818 St Thomas, Dudley
Thomas 1823 ~ St Thomas, Dudley (This is my lineage link)
Elizabeth 1820 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
William 1821 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
Joseph 1826 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
Edward 1828 ~ St Thomas, Dudley

Hello Nocky, have just joined this site and I have the Nock Family in my tree, but does not look like your line though. Have checked Ancestry for Staffs parish registers and have found a James Nock son of Cornelias and Vye Nock bap 25 December 1787 Rowley Regis, might be of some help. Sandy

Hi there Farside,
many thanks for the info. James and Ann Nock have been somewhat of a brick wall for me as i cannot determine which Ann James married. Based on the info on the IGI for children of James & Ann Nock I would hazard a guess that Ann was formerly Ann Priest but I have no concrete evidence. There is no death information that I can find for James Nock or Ann except for the marriage cert of Thomas Nock and Mary Ann Law in 1845 (Tipton). He is on the cert but noted as deceased. I have requested some death certs for James but they do not seem to be the correct people.

The info I have collect is as follows ( during these times would it be common for parents to be having children into their 40's?)

Children of James and Ann Nock: -

John 1806 R.Regis
William 1804 ~ 1806 R.Regis
Benjamin 1810 ~ R.Regis
Sam'l 1807 ~ R.Regis

Then there are : -

Ann Maria 1815 St Thomas, Dudley
James 1818 St Thomas, Dudley
Thomas 1823 ~ St Thomas, Dudley (This is my lineage link)
Elizabeth 1820 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
William 1821 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
Joseph 1826 ~ St Thomas, Dudley
Edward 1828 ~ St Thomas, Dudley

I have linked these two blocks of children based on that I cannot find any marriage info for a James & Ann Nock married after 1806 and before 1815 when Ann Maria was born.

Any help would be much appreciated as my Nock line seems to be quite frustrating to research. There must be a link somewhere !!!
